Bottling of water (including water when used as a carbonated Beverage) is regulated by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and the FDA.
- Businesses wishing to sell bottled water must comply with Water Supply Rule Chapter 21 and Groundwater Withdrawal Reporting and Permitting Rule- Chapter 24; Call Ben Montross 498-8981 with questions
- The FDA requires bottled water manufacturers to test yearly for di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP)
- You must ensure that the manufacturing facility is registered with the FDA
- Call the Vermont Department of Health to ensure you have the proper license (802) 863-7221 (Note that your beverage product may not be regulated by the Health Department, but it is important to call and check)
Notes and Exceptions:
If you are using juice as part of a carbonated drink, it must be juice that is manufactured under a HACCP plan.
