CAE's Response to the Novel Coronavirus, COVID-19
Friends,
I wanted to reach out and let you know that the Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE) is taking steps to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, and how we intend to respond to this ongoing health crisis.
Starting Monday March 16th most of our staff will start working from home. We are canceling public meetings and events at the Vermont Food Venture Center. Our staff will be in touch to reschedule any in-person meetings that had been previously scheduled.
CAE's services supporting food and farm businesses and our community partners are still operating remotely while the VFVC operations are closely monitoring recommendations and requirements from the Dept of Health on whether to suspend food processing operations. Until further notice we will continue producing food for our institutions and delivering products for our local farms. Atkins Field remains open, however we ask that the community adhere to the Vermont Health Department guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19 when in public spaces.
We are actively communicating with community members and partners to determine how we can engage to assist in the response to this health threat. We look forward to working with our communities and supporting our farms and food businesses at this difficult time.
We will continue to closely monitor the situation and will be in touch with any updates or further changes. In the meantime, we encourage you to follow recommendations to help flatten the curve.
CAE is committed to remaining the best resource we can be while facing this uncertainty. Please let us know if you have any questions or we can be of any assistance you and your community.
Thank you,
Jon Ramsay
Executive Director
