Wetland Restoration Tree Planting at the Food Hub

With the help of Hazen students from the Dare To Be Me Class, a restoration of disturbed wetland next to the Food Hub has begun! In the first of a 3-phase tree planting project on the Wright Farm Road site owned by the Town of Hardwick, 75 trees and woody species were planted to begin repairing the ecosystem health of an area that was heavily impacted by recent development.

Huge thanks to the folks who advised, consulted, and supported this plan:
🧑‍🎓 Anja Pfeffer, Sol Lew-Smith, and their industrious Hazen students.
💦 Lauren Sopher, our regional wetland ecologist.
👉 Michael Lew-Smith who delineated the wetland that we are planting in.
⛪ David Upson, Hardwick Town Manager (our 'landlord' and supporter).
🌳 Ben Rodgers, manager of Intervale Conservation Nursery who supplied the bulk of the trees.
🌱 Brooke Fleischman, statewide Seed Coordinator.
🍂 Jess Colby from Northwoods Stewardship Center, tree seed and tree planting expert.
🏫 Adam McCullough, Urban Forester from the Vermont Dept. of Forests Parks & Rec.
💡 Daniel Keeney from CAE, planner and coordinator for this project.
🌈 Bethany Dunbar, Silene DeCiucies, and Reeve Basom - CAE staff supporting this project.
